Prescription Monocles

How do I send you a copy of my prescription?
We will email you to ask for a copy of your prescription shortly after you place your order.  Before we can start processing your prescription lens we need a few additional pieces of information:
  • A copy of your prescription, including your eye doctor's signature
  • Your eye preference - left or right?
  • Your vision preference - distance vision or reading?

Please include your order number, eye preference, and distance preference with your prescription.

How long does it take to receive my prescription, mirror, or tinted monocle?

All prescription, mirror, and tinted monocles are custom made for each order.  Please allow 10 business days for these items to arrive.

Why do I need a Prescription Monocle?

If you need prescription glasses, then you’ll probably need a prescription monocle.

All of our monocles include standard reading lenses (with a positive correction), but many people require a negative correction, have an astigmatism, or have other specific needs that aren’t met by our standard lenses.  If you are one of these people, then a prescription monocle is the best option.

What monocle frames are available with the Prescription Monocles?

You can order a Prescription Monocle in any of our Classic Monocle frames.

Can I use my Health Spending Account (HSA) funds to buy a monocle?

Yes – monocles are corrective eyewear and are an eligible medical expense for Health Spending Accounts (HSA).

You can read the IRS guidelines at the following links:

IRS Publication 969 – Health Savings Accounts
IRS Publication 502 – Medical and Dental Expenses

Please refer specific questions to your HSA provider.

I have an astigmatism, can I still use a monocle?

Yes - it is possible to correct for an astigmatism in our monocle frames.

Our monocle frames have galleries; this means that the frame has a definite orientation when worn.  We can use this orientation to add a cylindrical correction to your lens.
